In response to the many questionnaires we have been receiving from our customers and prospective
customers, we have prepared a position statement on what DeHART's Printing Services Corporation
is doing to prepare for Y2K.
I would like to assure you that the products and services we supply are Year 2000 compliant.
Our company prints only the manuals, covers, tabs and other printed matter from files or hard copy
art that are provided by our customers. We do not create or manage products for our customers that
would be affected by the coming year 2000. All of our internal archiving is done manually and
retrieving from the archive is also a manual process. We do not create software applications, nor
do we add anything to the supplied originals.
The computers we use to send files to the printers utilize the newest software available; Windows
NT Server, SunOS 5.5.1, Open Windows 3.5.1, MAC OS 8.1, and Windows 95/98. These operating systems
are all Year 2000 compliant. The applications that we use are the newest versions that Adobe
offers, Acrobat 3.01, PhotoShop 4.0, Illustrator 7.0.1, PageMaker 6.5, FrameMaker 5.5, and Quark
4.03. We are continually upgrading our software to meet our customers' demands.
We are currently using a FileMaker system for creating work orders, managing our inventory, and
monitoring our jobs in process throughout our shop. This system was designed exclusively for
DeHART's. Our FileMaker version is Pro 4.X and is year 2000 compliant.
We are also using Harbinger EDI software with one customer or trading partner at the present time.
Our software was upgraded in June 1998 to version 3020, which is the Year 2000 compliant version for
Harbinger. DeHART's accounting software is "Great Plains Dynamics DEX 4.00", which is Y2K compliant,
running on a new NT Server.
If you have any other questions or need clarification on anything that I have provided, please call
me at 408-982-9118. In addition, I would be interested in any comments or suggestions on our position
statement. If for some reason this position statement is inadequate for your company or raises
concerns on our preparedness for Y2K, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Don DeHart
President
